Wisdom Teeth – Retain It or Remove It?

Knowledge teeth have little to do with wisdom and are simply extra teeth that we grow in our young adult lives. This 3rd molar frequently grows without causing any pain in most cases. However, some people may suffer a certain degree of discomfort when the wisdom teeth do start growing.

It has got to be understood that by the time the knowledge tooth appears, your jaw has been fully established. All of the teeth are firmly in place . As a result, the wisdom tooth has to make space for itself, leading to giant pain in a number of cases. It is possible that the tooth be removed if it is causing extreme discomfort.

There are certain conditions that call for the requirement for wisdom teeth removal. If the tooth is seated in a firm position then it needn’t be removed. However, if it is in an irregular position such as tiled or twisted then you would need to get it removed. Wisdom teeth might also be needed to remove if they get trapped below the gum line.

Due to their hard to reach location, wisdom tooth is typically hard to clean. This may lead to tooth decay. The tooth may even attract numerous bacteria or food particles because of lack of proper hygiene, which could again result in removal of wisdom teeth.

To assess whether or not you need knowledge teeth removal, an X ray would be conducted. The x ray will help figure out the exact location of the teeth and the need for removal. In addition, the x ray also helps to pinpoint the sort of extraction system that should be put to use to remove the knowledge teeth.

Removal of wisdom teeth is not easy. There is severe amount of agony concerned, even with anesthetics in picture. While local anesthesia is used to dim the pain by making the surrounding areas and the molar root numb, the fact that removal has to be done manually , using dentistry equipment, means that not everyone can sustain the process.

Since the tooth is literally pulled out of the mouth, it may lead to some bleeding. The doctor will insert gauze into the mouth and ask you to put some pressure on the same with your jaws for the next few hours. This will stop the bleeding. Also, it is suggested that you do not eat anything hot soon afterwards the extraction of the tooth. Try eating something cold as this may freeze the blood and prevent the problem from aggravating.

Rest assured that if your wisdom teeth are in the correct place, you have nothing to worry about.
